Self-Creating Disasters

Suppose there was a massive, violent typhoon that hit an uninhabited area of some Eastern nations coastline and flattened every tree, followed by a huge earthquake that flattened all the mountains. It would be quite a sight, afterward. People would marvel.

Now let’s inhabit the area with people who breed like rabbits since sex is about their only real form of recreation, and toss in a typhoon, (Burma) and an earthquake, (China).

In China and Burma, the death toll is the product of the overpopulation and the severity of the violence and will very likely top 200,000 deaths. The point here is that natural disasters always occur. There are always earthquakes and violent storms and some areas are far more prone to these things than others. We know where these areas are but we live there anyway because we’ve bred ourselves out of space elsewhere.

The Pill is really cheap and works really well, and until these people start taking responsibility for their population levels, the only sympathy I have is for the children. Once they grow old enough to start porking each other and do it without contraceptives of some sort, there my sympathy ends because these “Nature Adjustments” will just keep right on happening and the hundreds of thousands will keep right on being swept to their deaths.

It’s not lack of foresight, it’s lack of responsibility. Whether it’s some corrupt, despotic government or simply individual choice, these disasters aren’t caused by Mother Nature but by Human nature. With our wonderful imaginations we find it too easy to create false realities to calm our fears, and to replace what we would rather not think about with imagined assurances. “Well, there won’t be a storm.” “Another earthquake won’t hit here in my lifetime.” Isn’t it amazing how we know the future that way, without the slightest evidence? Aren’t we all shocked and surprised when we’re wrong?

Massive human death is caused by massive human birth.

The massive starvation that is now beginning to spread out on the planet is caused by massive human birth.

The soaring price of oil, food, everything, is caused by massive human birth.

If we actually are causing global warming, it’s because of massive human birth.

If human life is as sacred as the right-to-life fruitcakes would have us believe, then why do we kill each other in wars? Why don’t these natural disasters have all our priests out there moaning “Why God why”? Nobody cares. People just like to get up on self-righteous soap boxes and cause problems where there were none.

Anything that reduces the number of people on this planet has my blessing as long as it doesn’t wipe out habitat. We need to reduce our numbers back down to about a tenth of what they are now. Then there will be plenty of cheap oil and cheap food for everyone, habitat can be restored, many animals on the brink of extinction can thrive again and continue to enrich the Earth and the lives of us miserable, selfish, stupid humans. There will be lots of room for everyone, people will have less reason to make wars and more reasons not to.

Eventually there’ll be another Ice Age, no doubt not too far off, either, if the timing of the cycles stays true to past performance. This will drive much of humanity to coastal areas just as it did the last time. It’s hard to make a living on an ice sheet. Our population is going to dwindle tremendously, to the level I quoted or less, and it couldn’t happen to a better planet.

One Response to “Self-Creating Disasters”

Some of your points i have to agree with, i have no sympathy for the countries effected by these natural desasters, only for the young do i feel sorry. i have a real issue with the constant charity pleas that all these events bring, if its not famine, drought, earthquakes and flood its some dumb ass donkey thats been abused by a muslim. we in the west constantly give money out to those in the east so they can continue to put up the price on their exports. Its becoming even more expensive to live here that i fear that the west will become third world through dept.
if you think about the billions of pounds and dollars that have been given to these countries through charities it makes you think where can it all go, still they drink from muddy ponds and live in mud huts, is this where the money goes?
i am happy to say that i have never and will never give funds to these countries that have been supported by the west for many years and have nothing to show for it and in the long run only means us harm.
