Most people know what the Peter Principle is but for those who don’t, it’s that people tend to rise to their level of incompetence. For instance, a teacher who does adequately well with the 2nd grade but is barely competent to rise to the 3rd grade, will, and rise no further. The teacher has risen to their level of incompetence.
So has the Pope, our President, most members of Congress, top executives of our major lending institutions and people at the top world wide.
The United Nations has degenerated into a squabbling mass of self-servers who haven’t accomplished anything remotely resembling their reason for existing in many years.
It should be becoming apparent to anyone paying the slightest attention now that no one knows what they’re doing. Obama is inexperienced and proving to be incapable of even speaking without a teleprompter, let alone build a decently functional cabinet. Small wonder, as he’s been guided, or perhaps directed is more like it, by Pelosi, whose agenda is a psychedelic hash of hare-brained notions, his friends are all various types of radicals and his nominations keep dropping like flies over a myriad of ethical issues. He’s reached his level of incompetence.
The grossly corrupt government of Mexico has slapped 2.4 billion dollars of tariffs on goods imported into Mexico from the US in retaliation, that amount supposedly being equal to the lost revenue the Mexican truckers would have had if they had been allowed to truck their incoming goods all over the US. This is not money that’s actually been taken away, this is profit they hoped to make at the expense of our truckers.
Instead they are taking away actual income from us because we aren’t increasing theirs, and raising costs hugely to their own people, right in the middle of drug wars, increasing poverty and a deepening depression. The people at the top in Mexico have reached their level of incompetence.
In fairness, we had initially agreed to allow in the Mexican trucks as part of our free trade agreeement, but also in fairness, too many of their trucks are loaded with methedrine, heroin and illegals for us to allow this at this time, and they know it.
The same thing is happening all over Europe, as effete and not very mentally stable people ascend to positions of leadership they’re simply not capable of effectively handlng. Two excellent cases in point are Gordon Brown of England and Nicolas Sarkozy of France.
The problem that arises when powerful nations are governed by incompetents is that they become vulnerable to attack. Just as the Mexican government is being attacked by the drug cartels, attack can come from within as much as from without. In Mexicos case, it looks a lot like the cartels are far more competent, capable and well organized. So I guess we won’t have to worry about those new tariffs for too long.
