The Freedom Party of populist right-wing leader Geert Wilders has climbed again in the polls, this time to a record of 32 seats in the 150-seat parliament. The Freedom Party is in first place and is now four seats ahead of the Christian Democrats, the largest of the three parties in the governing coalition. Pollster Maurice de Hond attributes the rise in popularity to his departure from a parliamentary debate on Thursday. He walked out of the debate in a huff, describing the debate on the economic crisis as “a sham”.

His ratings began to soar in February, when the British government refused to allow him to enter the country. Sixty percent of voters who describe themselves as right-wing say they will vote for Wilders’ Freedom Party.

There are 12 political parties with seats in the Dutch parliament, and the Freedom Party has been rising meteorically ever since it’s leader, Geert Wilders, was refused his right to free speech and booted rudely out of Britain. He went there on invitation to give a showing of his movie, FITNA (view here) which shows how the Quran and Islam are tied irrevocably to the quest for global conquest, terrorism and human rights abuse.

He subsequently was invited to show his movie to our Congress, which he’s done.

Wilders may well become the next PM of the Netherlands, and reverse the Islamic attempt to take that country over.

In related news, the United Nations Human Rights Council has voted a simple majority of 23 out of 47 to pass a resolution making criticism of Islam a crime. Since all 23 of them are Islamic, it’s no surprise. Eleven mostly Western nations opposed it and 13 countries abstained.
The resolution urges states to provide “protection against acts of hatred, discrimination, intimidation and coercion resulting from defamation of religions and incitement to religious hatred in general’, and has no force of law, of itself.

The council is dominated by Muslim and African countries. Muslim nations have argued that religions, in particular Islam, must be shielded from criticism in the media and other areas of public life. They cited cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad as an example of unacceptable free speech. The resolution said that “Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism.” Isn’t that a fine crock? Islam, was, of course, the only religion mentioned in this resolution by muslims.

The Bush administration long ago gave up on the body because of the council’s anti-Israel statements and its failure to act on abuses in Sudan and elsewhere. This is what happens anywhere that Muslims gain a numerical advantage. Their horrible religion gets shoved down everyone elses throats.

    Great news re Wilders.

As for “Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism” we agree entirely apart from use of the word wrongly.
