South of the border, down Mexico way.
That’s where I fell in love where stars above, came out to play.
And now as I wander, my thoughts ever stray.
South of the border, down Mexico way.

(CNN) — Hundreds of Mexican federal police officers from two opposing groups clashed in Ciudad Juarez over the weekend over allegations of corruption within their ranks.
This Saturday a 3-day protest became a riot between two opposing groups of the federal police department over claims that federal police Cmdr. Salomon Alarcon Romero, aka Alarcon, has participated in kidnappings, killings and extortion in Juarez, across the border from U.S. city El Paso, Texas.
The riot started Thursday after an officer was arrested and, it was claimed, falsely accused of drug crimes. About 200 of his heavily armed fellow officers, with some in ski masks, started demonstrating in front of a hotel which houses some federal police offices and more than 100 supporters of Alarcon started shoving back against them.
This is the state of the federal government in Mexico today. The top officers in charge are working with the drug cartels and the federal police are now split into two camps which are fighting each other. I’m willing to bet that both sides will end up fighting for control of the federal police force and all that payola from the drug cartels.
There’s not a snowballs chance in Hell that either side is going to fight against the cartels. Whichever of these two camps wins, that will be the group that sides with the cartels next. At least until the federal police force divides itself in two again. Welcome to Mexico.
Welcome to the jungle…
