Hillary Clinton and other U.S. politicians and personnel are still trying to come to some sort of arrangements with the UN, Russia and Syrian government people to end the violence in Syria.
Meanwhile, the slaughter goes on as the fighting between Syrian government forces and what are called “Syrian rebels” continues. Apparently there is a civil war of sorts going on between the Syrian government run by Assad, who is a Shiite, and the rebels, who are Sunnis. In other words, this is yet one more religious war between the Arab Muslims for religious control of a country.
The latest slaughter was again done against a village of Sunnis who were surrounded by little villages of Shiites. The Shiites came in and killed every last one of them, a total of 78 Sunni residents, men, women and children.
Here is the truth of the matter. If the Sunnis win out, Assads brutal, America-and-Israel-hating Shiite government will be replaced with a brutal America-and-Israel-hating Sunni government. For everyone except Syrians, nothing will be different.
So, why, then, make any effort to stop the fighting? Let them slaughter away. The more they devastate each other and their nation and infrastructure, the better off all the rest of us are. The Syrians are the ones supplying the invaders of Lebanon that Iran is bankrolling, the same ones who waged a very destructive – to Lebanon- war with Israel some years back, that they started by launching rockets and raids into Israel from Lebanon.
Considering all the handkerchief twisting, hand wringing and gnashing of teeth over all the killing going on, all the talking and the utter lack of any actual action other than to send in observers and call Assad a bad boy, I tend to think that those making all the ineffective noise see this the same way I do.
I hope so, because direct intervention to stop the bloodshed is entirely the wrong approach. Let them fight it out, and when they’ve exhausted themselves, their resources, and have run out of fighters, that’s the time to pour troops in and take over. Personally I’d take the old Roman approach and salt every last inch of their farmland so that nothing would grow there again for 1000 years. End of threat.
