What do you think? Is that okay, for colleges to offer scholarships for whites only? Would the Negros raise holy hell if a college were to offer this? Would Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson get up on their soapboxes and start screaming “Racism, racism, whites are putting blacks down, sue the college, sue everybody”? Would Obama speak out against this “blatant example of white racism” and announce a Federal investigation of the college and possible criminal charges?

A white student at a Riverside high school has returned a $1,000 scholarship intended for black students.
Jeffrey Warren of Martin Luther King High School received the scholarship from the Martin Luther King Senior Citizens Club at a school awards night last month, prompting laughter from the audience.
Jeffrey later returned it. The teen, who graduated last week, says he applied for 27 scholarships and won three others.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the 17-year-old never saw a cover letter for the award that was sent to high school counselors and specified it was for black students.
The application itself said only that African-Americans were encouraged to apply.
The scholarship has now gone to a black student. The senior club says it will change next year’s application language.”
We need this situation changed. There are no all-White schools or colleges in our country anymore. All of them have been integrated. Now we need to shut down all the all-Black schools as being in violation of the laws that outlawed segregation and discrimination.
I can tell you, though, why there’s been no real outcry by anybody over these all-Negro schools and colleges. Because Whites don’t want to go to those low-grade Negro schools anyway. In fact, neither do most Negroes, who would much rather go to a good school, one that the Whites and Orientals prefer. All-black schools pretty much suck.
Even so, it would be great if a school set an example by declaring itself to be an All-White or All-Hispanic or whichever school, and no one of any other race allowed. I’d love it.
The Negroes don’t want equality, they want it all.
You’re such a great writer, Blacksheep, AND entertaining. (I really mean that and no sarcasm whatsoever). May I ask what you studied in university (assuming if you did) years before? Whether you have or not, I’m really impressed with how well you express yourself in your writings and I find myself saying things like, ” Why is it that I can’t write like that and get my thoughts across with so much precision?” I normally don’t care about news all that much but you make it fun!

Seriously, I appreciate the compliments. Not many come my way. Often as not it’s someone who’s offended by my remarks, and usually for pretty good reason. The things that strike me funny aren’t always humorous to others, and I like to point at the things most of us would rather ignore.
In real life, I have a tendency to piss people off by doing that. People don’t like truth, especially about them. I would make a terrible diplomat.
I try to be as truthful as possible and describe things the way they are. The problem with that is that the truth is always many-sided, and by the time all sides are described, the reader has died of boredom.
The best advice I know of for writing anything from a letter to a friend, to a book, is that brevity is the soul of wit.
I suppose there may be a case for some leeway when one race is way behind as equal treatment does not always mean equal outcome, eg if blacks are excluded from employment by white businesses they are excluded from a lot, whereas if whites are excluded from employment by black businesses they are excluded from very little, as there are not too many.
However, that would only be a limited argument to allow groups to campaign for equal treatment or compensate for genuine exclusion and we all know that the double standards go beyond anything that is reasonable. We are not asked for equal treatment but preferential treatment, we are supposed to relax requirements or allocate quotas for some perpetually failing minorities quite regardless of individual merits and that is quite wrong in principle and creates resentment.
Despite any predudice, some minorities, like Chinese and Indians, do very well in the West, while some are failures everywhere, like blacks. Look at the societies they come from and you see these successes/failures mirrored rather well. That gives the lie to the idea that’s it’s all about white racism.
But heh, we must be to blame eh?

One of the biggest problems with liberals is that they’re so damn sure of themselves that they run their mouths without EVER checking the facts first.

There are 105 all-negro schools in this country according to Wikipedia, and I found plenty more references to them on Google, but not even one all-white school. Now what, Rob? Still think that’s okay? That there are racist schools in violation of our Constitution and Federal Law, that will not allow a person of oriental descent, or a Hispanic, or a white person, to attend, only negroes, and you think that’s okay?

First off, I entirely agree with you about the iniquity of black-only scholarships. On the matter of schools, I was taking issue with your post where you seemed to veer (no, dammit, you DID veer) from the subject of shcolarshops to that of schools. And OK, I asked you to come up with evidence, you did and I apologise for implying there were no such schools. I hadn’t realised the “historical” black schools had been excluded from integration, and yes I agree that’s simply wrong. I bet most not-Americans (and probably a lot of Americans) think your system IS fully integrated.
I still think that’s a different issue from the scholarship one though. i suppose you could make a legal (if not moral) case for scholarships for blacks, or women, or Catholics or whoever if it was an endowment linked to terms in a will or something like that. Hard to see how you justify segregated schools though.
