Currently there are over 50 million people in America who are here illegally, most from Mexico but also others from as far away as China. About 400,000 are deported each year, most of them Mexicans who keep sneaking back in as soon as they’re released in Mexico. This distorts that 400,000 figure, since a lot of those are counted repeatedly.
The figure would be more like 10 million annually if our government were serious about protecting our borders and enforcing our laws. However, they prefer to make illegal entry a political issue, since so many of these illegal aliens are able to vote, also in violation of our Constitutional laws.
The result of this, which has been going on for years and years now, is that instructions and owners manuals for most products are printed in both English and Spanish here, many stores post aisle signs in both languages and our government prints its various pamphlets and forms in both languages. Even knowing that almost all of those people are here in violation of our laws, our corporations and state and Federal governments openly and willingly accomodate them.
No wonder respect for the law has bottomed out. What did they expect?
My move back to California, and my choice of this particular area, was based in part on it’s demographics. Only about 1 in 10 people living here is of Hispanic origin, and I’ve yet to see anyone who obviously just wandered in from the Yucatan scrub, let alone an obvious illegal.
There’s no work here, so there’s no stinking Mexicans here. Those here who call themselves Hispanic are most likely by descent rather than recent immigrants. Otherwise I would have found a different town.
Anyway, I see in the news this morning that Obama is making another end run around Congress by deciding not to prosecute a large chunk of the illegal Mexicans now here, in yet one more blatant political accomdation of criminality. Anything to get re-elected and have 4 more years to wreck the United States. He’s damn near done it now, I don’t see why he doesn’t just quit now and step back to admire his handiwork. We may never recover as it is.
