REPERCUSSIONS

Now that the bodies of all those murdered at the Sandy Hook school are being laid to rest, it’s time to look at the repercussions of this horror.

First and greatest impact is the deaths of so many children. If it had been all adults who died, that wouldn’t hit our psyches nearly as hard as that it was little kids who were slaughtered. That just makes this event so much harder to deal with.

Then there’s the mix of joy, relief, profound gratitude and deep guilt that many of the parents of children who were unharmed feel, so happy that their kids escaped alive, so guilty that others died and theirs didn’t.

Many of them will have friendships, relationships with the parents of murdered children. How will they relate to each other now? There’s going to be anger and resentment with some of these parents. There will be feelings of “Why do you get to keep your children while mine were taken?” This doesn’t end with the funerals. This has torn that little community apart in ways that will keep manifesting for years to come.

This has affected our nation as well, and revived the battle between the Left and the Right over our right to bear arms. This has given the Left some powerful ammunition, and that’s not intended as a pun. Public sentiment regarding firearms is more negative right now than it’s ever been. Even a popular TV gun show has been cancelled because of this.

If Obama appoints two new Supreme Court Justices during this second term, which he likely will since two of them are expected to leave, we may see major Constitutional rulings reducing or eliminating our rights to own and bear arms.

This tragedy has had another affect, which is to divert attention away from another major issue of more importance to us nationally, by far. That’s the Benghazi investigation. While everyone’s attention was focused on Sandy Hook,  the Benghazi hearings were quietly continued without any fanfare and without Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice having to testify. The two most important insider witnesses to the apparently pre-arranged attack on our Libyan Embassy avoided testifying, Clinton with a supposed mystery concussion and Rice by leaving her government post and dropping out of contention as Clinton’s replacement.

If anyone is fooled by this then they’re fools indeed, but as long as all these shenannigans are within the law, all we can do is shake our heads in disgust. You have to give them credit though, they didn’t let a good crisis go to waste.

  1. Every Christmas, all of Newtown will grieve again.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of folks now living in Newtown were to move to another location.

  2. We’re also being distracted from THIS, dated today.

  3. PALADIN says:

This nation is fast becoming lawless, and that includes these Liberal assholes bypassing the constitution to invoke whatever law they want, and usurping the law when it’s in their interest. I.e. that bitch Hillary skipping out on her testimony.

This tragedy will be used to further their agenda.

    They are pure evil scum.
