BEATING UP ON RELIGION

The Scottish Catholic cardinal is saying that Catholic priests should be allowed to marry and have families, that Jesus never said anything about celibacy. This is a big deal with people who’ve been raised in this insane religion, but in reality it’s nothing anyone should care about at all.

What really would be a big deal would be if the Catholic Church disbanded and ceased to exist, along with all the other religions of the world. It’s time we let go of our superstitious, spirits-of-the-night fears and silly beliefs in things that aren’t there, and stopped wasting all that time and resources on blue sky.

I’m not picking on the Catholic  religion, I’m picking on all of them. More people have met horrible deaths during the whole of our history over religious beliefs than over wars of territory. All those millions of Jews murdered in World War 2 were slaughtered because of their religion. All those killed in the wars between the Protestants and the Catholics, the Catholics and the Muslims, the Muslim wars against everyone else, on and on for century after century. It’s truly amazing that we’re not extinct at our own hands by now.

Religions started as fear of  the night and wonder at the stars, at nature, and fear of death. Over the thousands of years, we humans worked out theories and scenarios to explain all the mysteries of life. The Egyptians came up with mummification as a means of gaining a second life among their gods, which were mostly half animal and half human. They were tied to the spirit beliefs of our ancient past. Then the Greeks with their Pantheon of Gods who lived in the sky and played with us like toys. Then the One God became popular, and the old gods of the Greeks, and then the Romans, were discarded as this new religion took hold.

What really happened was that we finally shed our belief in many gods, each of whom ruled some part of Nature or the animal world, and combined them all into one god that ruled over everything. And of course, all along the way, we used previous beliefs to verify our new ones. The Old Testament of the Christian bible is the foundation for Islam as well as Christianity, and is filled with impossible and contradictory stories. There are 7 different versions alone of Saul’s journey through the desert, and they contradict each other. Saul is also called Paul.

Jesus said things that no priest or minister will EVER repeat, as he made it clear that he didn’t believe in churches at all. One thing he said is that “I say unto you, all men, you are gods”, and another little gem is “The kingdom of Heaven is within you”. Ever heard those before? Like hell. They’ll never tell you about that. Got a red letter Bible? Start reading.

Religion is a tool for manipulating and controlling people. Marriages were always performed by priests of some sort. Catholicism dictates the most minimal form of birth control, for the sole purpose of having as many people as possible born under Catholic rule. Catholicism says what you can eat and when you can eat it, who you can marry, but never divorce, how you must pray, hands out punishments for a very long list of “sins”, makes itself such a dominant part of it’s subjects lives that being kicked out of the church is the worst thing they can imagine. The 7th Day Adventists do the same thing. So do the Amish and probably all the others in this country. Islam kills people who leave the religion.

Religion is all about control.

In Ancient Egypt, it was the priests who had more power than the pharoahs, because they alone knew to the day when the Nile river would flood. Crops had to be planted at exact times or the seed would rot in the ground waiting for the water to come. All Egypt depended on the flooding of the Nile for food for the year, and there’s only a narrow band of good soil on either side of the river. All the rest is useless desert. The priests had the day worked out because they had a calendar they’d created from watching planetary movements. That’s how they knew exactly what day it was. They kept their secret, kept their power, and got fat doing nothing.

Just like they do now.

People who believe in any organized religion are just too damned lazy to use their brains. This has nothing to do with spirituality. There is something there, but you’ve never met the priest who ever got even close to it, and you never will either as long as you have all that cockamamie dogma clouding your mind.

We would all love to live in a paradise of a world, all happiness and light and sugar plum trees. but the way to leave our caveman past behind isn’t through technology. If we land on other planets, we’ll still be cavemen. The first thing we have to do, just to survive as a species,  is to discard our religions.

Last, think about this. If Islam were the only religion there was, and only practiced in the Arab countries, and they started the religious war that they’re waging  on us now, how long do you think the rest of the world would be so accepting of that barbaric creed? How long do you think the rest of us would put up with the assaults from that incredible heap of confused superstitions before we stamped it, and them, flat?

The only reason we haven’t is because Islam is so much like all the crap we’ve been taught to believe in, too. You want to get rid of Islam? Start by freeing yourseilf.
