19 year old Gilad Shalit was kidnapped at gunpoint at night while standing watch at a lonely checkpoint in 2006 by armed Palestinian terrorists and has been held for ransom ever since. In my last post I had a little to say about those who hold soldiers for ransom, and the Vietnamese have nothing on the Palestinians for sheer barbarism.

Gilad Shalit has been held by them for 3 1/2 years now and “has become enough of a cause célébre to bring Israel near the edge of a trade long considered taboo: releasing as many as 1,000 Palestinian prisoners in return.”

The deal still may not happen and very likely won’t under the current terms demanded by the terrorists but the truly telling point of these negotiations is the value the terrorists themselves set on their own lives: They’re admitting that one good Jew is worth 1000 Palestinian human cockroaches.
