Okay, yes, it would be a lot faster to build on the Moon. The utter lack of atmosphere resulting in a totally black sky seems like a drawback to me, but the lesser gravity would make construction easier and faster. Which brings me to my question. What’s the rush?
What is this “overriding priority” to “secure the future of civilization”? Expecting something really bad, really soon, Elon? Care to clue us in?
I posted this comment on Xoggoth.org: “Hey. did you see that Elon is focused on Moon habitat now? Back last July some army officer – I’d have to look it up now…- screwed up and said publicly that we have a base on the Moon. It can’t be much of one right now but doesn’t this sound like a great cover for expanding one? Elon building a Moon City?
Check it out, he has the Boring Co. that makes tunnels through any rock, and rockets that could carry those machines to the Moon along with anything else they could possibly need, land there, unload and come back here for more. They can do that now.
Moon City my flatulent buttocks, Space Corps Moon Base, more likely. So. Do you think the US will declare ownership of the Moon? Or no, but actually act as if we own it regardless and not allow the Chinese anywhere near? Next step is Space Radar and Moon Defense, lasers and interceptor rockets to protect the SCMB, followed by our own local version of Star Wars.
