Does anyone besides me have visions of the Roman Coliseum while reading about the preparations for UFC championship MMA fights in front of the White House?
Methinks it’s not about kings. It’s about Caesars. One named Trump, perhaps? Are we destined for even greater circuses? Remember how the Caesars stayed in power? By providing spectacles for the people. They had arenas built all over Europe and put on fights, plays and other popular attractions to keep the people’s support as Rome waged one war of conquest after another.
Will the Senate end up sticking knives in Trump, figuratively speaking? Will he become the first Perforated President? I doubt it but wanting to be Caesar does carry some risks and so far the saboteur squad within some dark recess of our government has failed in it’s efforts, if all those efforts are indeed factual and valid. There are naysayers.
I can’t help seeing the comparison to the Caesars of ancient Rome. Here we are, involved in Iran, bickering like Harpies with our neighbors and with the Sacred Mid-Term Elections coming up and Trump is on TV bragging up this coming event and calling it “The Greatest Show On Earth”. Did you know that was the slogan of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus? They faded away finally in 2017 after nearly 150 years. I saw them at their best when they came to Long Beach when I was a boy and I promise you that whatever sort of show Trump sponsors in front of the White House, it will be nothing compared to the jungle beasts leaping through rings of fire, the herd of elephants inside the Big Tent, the impossible number of clowns jumping out of those tiny cars or the trapeze artists flying through the air.
What is going on in our government now is unlike anything ever before in our entire history and the White House gladiators are only one of Many Attractions To Behold as this government continues to present us with marvels to mask the terrors hiding behind them. You remember I said that.
There’s a Brazilian fighter among the MMA White House gladiators.
Didn’t know that. Brazil’s produced a lot of great fighters, women MMA fighters kick ass too.
