Aren’t words wonderful? I was just sitting there minding my own business watching a pretty boring TV movie when the word “bilious” inserted itself into my consciousness for no clear reason, since the movie wasn’t relative to that word, but I just had to tell you that. Also for no clear reason.
When was the last time you heard anyone say bilious? It’s a lost word, no one says it anymore, like Jimmy Durante always searching for the lost chord and no one knows who Jimmy Durante was, either, except me, maybe. He played piano and had a big nose and said “Hot cha cha” a lot. Anyway…
Bilious is an adjective meaning relating to bile, sick to your stomach, having a bad temper or describing a sickly color. Bile is a green fluid that accumulates in the bile duct, connects to the liver, then to the gall bladder. I know right where it is from field dressing deer that I mercilessly slaughtered because I was hungry when I lived alone in the remote wilderness for years. Of course that experience didn’t affect me mentally in any way. You can tell. Anyway, you don’t want to break the gall bladder when you’re removing the liver, because, boy, if that thing blows a leak it will ruin every bit of the meat it touches. That’s where one of the meanings of bilious comes from. Or all of them, probably.
Hmm. Paint that fence section Bilious Green? Hmm. This is Bilious Green, what do you think? For the fence? Hmm? John will love it, yes? For an explanation to this post read the previous one.
