A couple of days ago I dreamed that I was at the eye doctor and he told me they were going to treat my right eye, which has lost all central vision, and is caused by “wet” macular degeneration, in stead of the left eye, which is in the process of degenerating due to “dry” macular degeneration, and the reason for treating the right eye instead of the one that needs it now is because there’s more money in treating wet macular degeneration and it’s easier. Then I woke up.
Right now I’m back from the eye doctor, who treated my right eye instead of my left eye over my objections and said they would “monitor” my left eye while continuing to focus treatment on my pretty much useless right eye.
Personally, I think my dream had it right. They took all sorts of photos and scans of the inside of both eyes and it’s possible that he thinks my left eye is untreatable but still wants the insurance money for doing the work, (he’s outsourced, last name Gupta) so treating my right eye will keep the payments coming in and his visa valid.
We’ll see, or maybe I won’t see, time will tell and all that.
